good day for music

quaverGot home late last night after another stint in bonnie Scotchland, doing landlord-y stuff and working in the Glasgow office. I returned to a jenga pile of mail, including an exciting CD-shaped package. Imagine My Excitement when – after threatening it with a stanley knife – it disgorged my limbo-bound, long-delayed copy of Drums and Guns by my favourite twats, Low. And a copy of the surprisingly good Soulsavers album.

Score: 1-nil to music.

The return of reformed, de-cracked Smashing Pumpkins starts with a gig in London on 19th June, before all the festivals kick in. And after subscribing to every newsletter in London I actually had forewarning for once. Rejoice.

So! Tickets went on sale this morning at 09.30. And were sold out at 09.31, as far as I could tell. From thence to eBay, to watch the second-by-second flurry of Buy-It-Nows at double price. With a brief ‘fuck it’ though I snapped a pair up. Anyone want to go?

Score: 2-nil to music.

Finally, iTunes have started selling unlocked songs. Only in .m4a (AAC) format though, cheeky fockers. And they embed your email address in there for laughs.

Disallowed! Final tally: 2 in the bag. A good day for music.
