Given the frenzy over ticket purchasing these days, it’s a good thing the actual number of summer-pummelling music festivals grows every year.
I’m happy we’re continuing the tradition of heading to Leeds to misbehave in 2007. The Carling. The sunburn. Taking the magic potion into the arena (a colourless fluid, to look like water). And dodging certain death at the festival end, as in charming Sunday-night tradition the entire site is burned to the ground and riot police are called in to put out bonfires and hit people.
A new one for me this year is the Latitude festival, just north-east of London, 12-15th July. A decent set of bands (Wilco, Midlake, CSS, Arcade Fire, The National, Soulsavers) and tons of good comedy.
I can get a few days off, the question is can anyone else?

It’s my birthday on the 24th, you know. We could do this.
Yep, plan.

Another day, another festival.
Horrible site though.

I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet but this was my marvellous creation. It’s so good in fact that Aaron and I managed to have ours nicked at Leeds a few years ago by a jealous girl who asked for a taste then fled upon receiving it. Cue a somewhat drunken, hilarious chase through the crowd to no avail.
This year I’m returning to T seeing as I’ve missed the past two years. I was going to sell up as soon as the headliners (Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Snow Patrol) were announced but then realised that going to Balado isn’t all about the main bands. Thankfully since then the line-up has improved significantly with performances from QOTSA and my beloved Brian Wilson (playing the Pet Sounds Arena appropriately enough).
