Congratulations to Jessica who is going to be working at the same place as this archive! Was I seething with envy, did I have to go for a walk cos I was too excited to stay at my desk, even though it's not even me?
Welcome to TF. We need some more archivists around here ; )

Ok, that was meant in a loving way, I just didn’t have time to elaborate. I remember reading all about the Kubrick archives in the papers when Stan the man died. I never realised he was such a prolific collector of… Stuff. Quite like Warhol. Apparently he kept a box at the side of his desk which he filled with ephemera (and probably old bits of sandwich and half eaten kit kat. Eww.) every day. What an amazing time capsule. Happy erm, categorising. And stuff. Sounds cool.

Excited that Jon Ronson will be at my work next week filming transfer of the collection from the estate as part of a Channel 4 documentary following up that very article! I will be famous (kinda).

Back in '99 when Kubrick pegged it I was being driven home by my dad as I was going home for some serious R&R after getting the flu.
Upon pulling up into our driveway my old man casually announced, "Oh, did you see that Stanley Kubrick died today?"
My heart skipped a beat as I struggled to comprehend what I had just been told. I made my way into the living room, grabbed the remote and put on page 101 on Teletext (ah, the good old days) to realise he was in fact dead.
I do also believe I shed a tear. Strange that, seeing as we had no real idea of what Kubrick the man was like back then. But then again I am a film fanatic and was gutted at the loss to the world of film in general.

I think i’d be more excited if it were Don Johnson coming to your work. THAT would be a special day. Especially if he brought cakes. I like cakes.
