Been a good time for live music lately, 2ManyDJs, Dandy Warhols, Lady Sovereign, Sigur Ros, Elbow on Thurs. All hangovers worth it. No Good Griefs though *sigh*
Been a bad time for SMS contacts (one not answering, one not sending) and for my wallet (sadly somehow lost Sat night). Nothing priceless lost though thank Crom.
Been a good time for motivation to do something new. After much curiousity and with the added assistance of my French Moroccan colleague at work I’m going to have an honest stab at learning French. How long do you think I’ll stick it out?
Been a bad time at work, stuck with crappy tasks for another week before I can get to The Good Stuff.
Been a good time for testing the LCD. Watched No End (too much politics but some gem moments) and Baise-Moi (not as bad as I thought it might be, but pretty worthless). Watched the new Rome series ep1, worth downloading for the cut-glass British accents. You might also enjoy Attention Scum.
Bath and sleep I think.

Sigur Ros > Unbelievable envy. Leo was there, said it was pretty special. If I hadn’t been in London when he bought the tickets, i’d have got some : / Keep me posted with gig expedtions.
French > So up for learning. No excuses. Where/how you doing it?
Baise-Moi > Pish. Found the repeated gusset ripping sequences more disturbing than the graphic murder.

If you want an uterly kewl Frog film to exercise your ear on, try Taxi. I would humbly advise, however, that you avoid the remake which stars Queen Latifah.

Is Baise-Moi the “OMG WOw!11! Teh RaPex0rR!!!” film? If so, it does look baws.
Everyone should learn French, myself included. My current mad skills only extend to saying “non” in a patronising tone while shaking my head and smiling mockingly.
I thought Rome was oookay. It’s good seeing Kevin McKidd (sp?) getting a hott acting jobb. It’s more exciting than Lost, which is just one huge exercise in squandered potential. Fuck you, Driveshaft.
It has been a good time for live music, yes. I saw Mika Bomb, which has sated my disgusting and offensive Japanese fetish for the time being (a fetish that I feel awful about, in the wake of Gran’ma Stefani. She wears the odd good shoe, but she’s no Tunstall, who is a pure sexy wee midden. So…lonely…)
The Good Griefs is a weak bandname. I prefer the name ‘The Mark Kermode 7′, which combines my favourite film critic and my favourite piece of 16-bit graphical trickery. Failing that, I quite fancy starting a metal band called ‘MiNdThiEf’.
Right, back to Final fantasy 7…

In an amusing predestined way I immediately reserved the (12) Queen Latifah remake on screenselect. Now deleted and replaced with the hardcore (15) original, yow!!!
> Rome
Definitely, Elgin boy makes good.
> Kermode 7
Uuuuuuuber geekout. Careful or we’ll get into Z80 opcodes and “SYS 64738″ on the Communistadore.
I think I saw Electric Eel Shock in Austin but I think they were brandishing penises so significant trauma-blocking is happening.
> go bilingual
Is a frightening phrase I never want to hear again. Thanks for the support though CJ.

Has no one got anything positive to say about learning Swedish instead of French?

I think everyone should work on learning snippets of every Euro-language, creating a hideous mish-mash faux-Esperanto universal language. Or is that just English? Cosmic.
I think Leonora Frances Winstanley speaks a little Swedish and a little French. But no English at all, curiously.

1. Well for a start, every Swede I’ve ever met speaks English more fluently than your average Glaswegian.
2. Well, once you’ve learnt French a whole wealth of languages – Latin, Spanish, Italian etc – suddenly seem more possible.
Air, can I point you in the direction of About French, the best free site I’ve found.
Michel Thomas,pricey but brilliant.
