post-birthday beavering

Here’s an unexpected one. Despite having been “between contracts” since late December (and hence self-righteously swimming in ‘free time’), my posting frequency has nosedived. As far as I can work out, there’s a distinct difference between taking an hour or two from work to compose a decent article, and taking the same chunk from your own time.

Hence I’ll try and get back to the essentials of journaling and post less ambitious missives. As for the Chamonix trip, there’s a report and a dedicated website coming, so will update shortly.

giftRyan’s birthday over the weekend was excellent but physically pretty demanding – only a couple of hours sleep over Fri and Sat as expected. Also expected was the extreme brain breakage over Mon and Tues – I still had unpleasant loose spinning things in my head last night.

Today is a classic time-to-myself sort of day though, with manic energy and confidence supplanting the misery. I was woken by the disturbingly attractive postperson at 10.30, to sleepily blear at and flirtatiously sign for a special delivery of Dresden Dolls tickets. Cup of tea and peppery ham sandwich; good start.

beaverNow on to the productive flat things. With the decision taken today to host a party for my birthday, I have a new deadline to get the homely basics in place. So: carpets checked out for removal feasibility; curtains measured for less-granny replacements; floor tiles checked for coolness; sofa people phoned for delivery estimate; uncle phoned for DIY support.

Another Tetley then it’s back into the fray.
