So on Tuesday night – since the EQ2 beta hasn’t come to anything – I broke out the license key for my free 14-day trial of, wait for it, Star Wars Galaxies.
Now I have really fond memories of losing hours and hours on Planetside last year. SWG is a different game altogether, and my first foray into genuine RPGs a la Everquest. Like the latter, it’s as addictive as crack-flavoured heroin. It’s very difficult to do anything practical – like packing for my weekend Francais – when SWG.exe is only a click away.
Once you get over the first overwhelming info-attack you start to appreciate the depth and capacity for team play. Will update on the adventures of Airor as I get a better grip on it.

I tells ya, if I had broadband, I’d never leave the house due to these fancy online rpg things. As it stands I have to settle for the frankly awesome SNES-based Chrono Trigger. 17 hours in two days, I’ve played it. Feel my soul slowly sliding away…

You know you’re really in trouble when you find yourself getting up early specifically to get more hours in playing a game.
I must have done this for Planetside… went through a period of Infantry addiction too.

I have been known to get up before 12 (yes! Before 12!) so I can get in more Chrono Trigger hours. I’m on the last boss now, but am loathe to complete it, as I’ll be left with nothing.
Until I get that pesky Neo Geo emulator, that is.
