Understandably the Whitehoose* was keen for the video to be broadcast with restraint or not at all; the events don’t quite tie in with the government line of a Happy Free Iraq. The important thing is the acts were those of civilians – not terrorists or shadowy foreign fighters.
The message to the US public can only be, “holy shit! they really hate us after all”.
MSNBC manages to cover both this potential ‘Mogadishu effect‘ and the Condominium Rice story in a clear and unbiased fashion! Shocker.
* as a footnote it seems some patriotic US hackers have blown away my favourite parody site whitehouse.org and repointed it to the US gov’s cybercrime site. Curses.
