A general roundup of the reasons for the recent chaos, attributable of course to a minority of “thugs and assassins”. More up to date, a flash guide to the siege of Falluja.
blair
Tony Blair personally wrote an article for the Observer, trying to win over the more skeptical liberal public. Not something you’d catch Bushy doing I suspect. Predictably though he comes across as infuriatingly self-righteous. Thankfully ex-python Terry Jones is on hand to give him a readable pummelling.
Another article by Polly Toynbee is notable for using Word Of The Day Manichean. Meaning a simplified struggle between good and evil, the adjective seems endlessly applicable to the false dilemmas – with us or against us – put forth by the coalition leaders.
bush
It’s worth checking out Bush’s justifying-Iraq speech and subsequent Q&A, although I’m annoyed I didn’t see his embarrassingly faltering performance under fire. On paper it doesn’t look so bad.
Unbelievably Bushy pulls out his winning ticket – the 9/11 WTC attack – again and tries to equate Al-Qaeda with the common-man Iraqi resistance. They “serve the same ideology of murder”. Twat.

I was fortunate enough to catch a snippet of the Q&A on the news. It was very embarrasing actually – prolongued periods of silence while Bush stared into space, his puss gurning, trying to think of something, anything, to say. The awkward silence being interrputed only by a barrage of photographers snapping away.
