friday:
Took control of the back room at Evol dishing out the punishment from 10.30 till 3am. A good night characterised by excessively loud music and a relatively empty back room due to the excessively loud music. At the time I didn’t realise but the fact I couldn’t hear what was playing through the headphones was maybe the giveaway… But I had fun which is the main thing.
saturday:
Natalie and I completely boycotted Valentines Day for our own personal reasons. Trip up North to Montrose later in the afternoon to attend my sisters 21st birthday ceilidh. Within an hour of being home Natalie had met the folks and I was decked out in the kilt ready to go. The night was a slow one due to the excesses of the previous night but we struggled on valiantly through a few dances, my dads blatant drunkenness and the general feeling of being watched by countless beaming relatives. Proceeded to a party afterwards only to realise that the Montrose kids do not know how to put on a post-club party. So we ventured home and joined my parents who were doing things a little better.
sunday:
Lovely chill-out day relaxing in the family home. The day was spent watching music videos and eating nice food. At 6pm we headed back to Edinburgh with full bellies.
monday:
Boring day at work and the first Bee Thousand gig of the year. We drove through to Glasgow in a decidedly dodgy van and found the 13th Note (eventually). Upon arrival I realised that I was going to have to drive home – I was not a happy bunny. Proceeded to watch my bandmates get drunk (hate x10 at this point) as we were not onstage till 11pm (hate x20). Played a relatively decent set although it was a bit scrappy in places. Moods were lifted afterwards when we were told by the promoter that we were the loudest band he had ever seen/heard at the 13th Note. High praise indeed.
Drove home, dumped gear, made it to bed for 2am.

couldn’t hear what was playing through the headphones > Lol. *Totally* Spinal Tap.
Val’s > Mine was unexpectedly good. I got woken up at a fairly ungodly hour of the morning by the postie, who gave me 2 cards *cheesy grin* aand! a big mofo package of champagne and chocolate from Thorntons, none of which were from my dad! Excellent.
made it to bed for 2am > Feeling your pain. Sooo working on the Menzies calendar atm. 3 days in the week.
