Finished the award-winning JC:tSKoE yesterday, an overpoweringly bleak and self-aware graphic novel. Totally recommended. Scott McCloud would be proud.
I’m also gagging to read the 2nd part of the nightmarish Jim collection but it’s not available in the UK yet. Arse.
It’s a wacky week so far anyway.
Head shaken in dismayed disbelief: no, not Janet Jackson’s fetid corpse-baps but the fresh batch of haj deaths. Please Ma, can I go on the pilgrimage and be trampled and/or asphyxiated to death? Please? Awwww…
Bacon sandwich dropped: Ariel “sense of humour” Sharon announced he’s pulling out of Gaza, losing his right-wing support and ensuring that just about everybody hates him. Ace.
Laugh-out-loud comedy gem: has to be Bush’s budget statement though. Ready?
“This nation has committed itself to the long war against terror. And we will see that war to its inevitable conclusion: the destruction of the terrorists.”
Geddit? There’s a conclusion! If there’s one thing that’s been established time and time again it’s that terrorists can simply be hunted down one by one until there are none left. It’s so simple – it’s inevitable! Just like in Israel.
On the other hand, if the “war” never ends, then you have an enduring 1984 stranglehold of paranoia over the country. Be afraid. Be sure and keep an eye on the Homeland indicator, citizens.

What do you reckon to the ending? Actually I’ve just realised that if I say anything else I’ll spoil it for those as hasn’t read it. You might already be hip to this, but even though you’ve read the hardback, get as many of the paperback installments as possible, as you get extra adventures and features.
