This week’s amusing web meme is a sexy MF. The idea is that you google for the phrase “Miserable Failure”. Even entered as a strict phrase (with “s), you get a string of George Bush hits, including his official Whitehouse page as hit #1. Tee hee!
Fame officially arrived when the eager-to-be-tech-savvy BBC got a hold of it. Alas they kinda missed the whole truth. According to the beeb it’s just an amusing success in the art of “Google Bombing” (ugh), where a bunch of bloggers get together to create Google-influencing links. This is only part of it.
A linking campaign was launched in the Old Fashioned Patriot blog (currently slashdotted, cache here). What they fail to research or mention is that the blogger in question didn’t invent the abuse.
That honour falls to Dick Gephardt. He’s running for president. Dick not only coined the MF phrase to describe Bush, but has virtually made it his catchphrase. He’s gone so far as to register amiserablefailure.com as a supporting campaign resource.
And in case there was any doubt, he really is a fucking miserable failure.
