Holy Company House Batman!
Work things kicking off again. After some excellent advice from my colleagues it looks like I’ll be setting up a limited company of my own, as soon as I can find a worthy accountant.
Suggestions for a name always welcome. I’ll be looking for some corporate logo/branding type activity in the near future as well, looking at no one in particular. Top coinage on offer.

Right, current favourites. The hard bit is finding a name which isn’t already taken, and for which the internet domain name is still free…
1. Clockwork Logic Ltd.
2. Logical Edge Ltd.
3. Helios Logic Ltd.
Definite logic theme there. Whaddya reckon? Better ideas?

I’m guessing that’s me then ; )
Branding/Id > I’d love to give it a shot. Have you thought of a suitable name yet? I’m thinking if it were me, I’d steer clear of anything double barreled. Clockwork Logic although sexy, and succinct is maybe a bit of a mouthful..
Coinage > As a rule, when it comes to you chaps and anything design related, I think we’re talking mates rates. As i’m sure I’d enjoy if my beloved computer broke down. *cue condecending tone*
..But that’s not going to happen kids… Mine’s a mac..
Gimme a bell when you’re good to go, and I’ll get my whiteboard markers out!

> steer clear of anything double barreled
Virtually all single-word names that mean anything are taken. Unless you go with something made up (e.g. Kimota Ltd.*).
Time is pressing as well : /
* Kimota is Miracleman’s ‘magic word’ : )

It’s almost like picking a band name, isn’t it? Bee Thousand – we rock.

Weird. You got part two of that in before I’d typed a reply.. Got side tracked. Anywho:
1. I do like. Just maybe a bit too much wordage.
2. Although double barrelled, I much prefer this. sounds better when you say it. A winner, in my view.
3. Helios, as in son of Hyperion, god of sun (and not the other way round) I’m getting vague flashbacks to a sweaty Classical Studies class, many moons ago.. The dude with the chariot?
Sounds a bit like Stellios. I prefer 2..
but wtf do I know! seriously..!

How about:
Loki Logistics Ltd
or
Loki Logic Ltd
Always liked that Norse god of mischief, it's alliterative, the three 'Ls' have 'cool logo' written all over them and the possible wordplay with 'Loki/low-key' may be subliminally suggestive of a discreet and unobtrusive service.

My shortlist. After looking at them for too long it’s hard to judge. Collecting opinions before choosing one today (hopefully).

Firebrand Logic Ltd.
Rational Edge Ltd.
Optimus Computing Ltd.
Gemstone Systems Ltd.
Maven Systems Ltd.
Firebrand Systems Ltd.
Thundera Ltd.
Kimota Ltd.
Akuma Ltd.
Loki Logistics Ltd.

I like the short and sweet Kimota Ltd. The double-barreled ones are all a bit of a mouthful to be honest…
That is my humble opinion.

Arggh. Killer. Sorry in advance for my indecisiveness. Here goes:
Clockwork Logic Ltd > I’m really warming to this. It sounds different, has a nice conceptual basis and connotation.. It works on more than one level, Its intelligent, apt, and has a wealth of design related possibilities. A favourite.
Rational Edge Ltd > I like this too. Does exactly what it says on the tin. No fannying about with wordplay, or anything too intellectual. Straight to the point.
Logical Edge > I know we should be ruling out, rather than in, but I really like this. Again, succinct, but implies slightly more vulcan thinking?! I don’t know. I still like it. Again, wealth of design/branding related quirks.
Kimota Ltd > Am I right in thinking this is made up? I looked this up, and got nothing, Googled it, got Sci-fi stuff, and it made my arse cheeks clench.. .com is already taken. Not really a fan.
Loki Logistics Ltd > 3 L’s?.. Mmmm, no. Done to death, and then some. Norse god of mischeif? is that really how you want to promote your business? hmmm. And is discretion really a selling point? Maybe.. I’m not convinced.
I’m sold on 3. But its obviously a personal thing.. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, pick one. Then we’ll set the ball rolling : )

> Kimota
Read comment 3 above you muppet.
There are a surprising number of considerations that make things difficult. For example, the fame of Rational software in IT makes it unwise to go with Rational Edge.
From about 20 possibles today it looks like I’m going back to my first, favourite idea (Clockwork). Would genuinely have loved to get Kimota or Optimus in there though. Ah well.

Okay,
Ruling out, as requested :-
Kimota – Sounds Japanese
Optimus – Sounds too much like Optimum (IT) – which is an agency in the IT market.
Logistics – Planning on branching out into the haulage business already dude?
Logical – Guess the trekkies (trekkers?) out there will enjoy that one.
Ruling in?
Clockwork Logic – Can almost see the logo already…
Rational Edge – I like this one, gives the impression of stability and professionalism. I see straight lines and greyscale in the logo – woo, cost savings at the printers….
Anyway, can we move on to how we’re going to spend the cash?

comment 3 > D’oh. Silly of me. Still don’t like it : )
How we’re gonna spend the cash. > Like it.
Cash > One of these..
One of these
One of these
And one of these for starters..
