As a few of you are aware, I was supposed to be in at work at 2am on Saturday/Sunday to provide support for our new code release. This never happened as we had batch problems so the whole thing was called off at about 23.30, much to my delight (i was in the pub at the time, on my fourth pint).
So… we all thought it was going to go ahead this weekend but due to resourcing issues it’s not. It’s better to find out at this early stage rather than a few hours beforehand while sitting in a pub with a rucksack full of sandwiches and books, essential items for an all-nighter.
So… it was going to go ahead next weekend, which I’m sure you’ll know is the same night the Dandies are playing in Glasgow. I told them I couldn’t make it which is fair enough and was accepted but they have now realised that ‘we have to do it that weekend or it’s going to be put back weeks.’
My boss took me aside and asked (nicely), ‘I know you have got a gig, but how much will it take to get you in?’ I was going to ask for a few grand but I’m an easy going guy and explained that coming back from Glasgow to be in Edinburgh by about 1 – 2am isn’t that big a deal. He was concerned and will be making sure I get a lot extra and I also think they are going to send a company cab to pick me up from Glasgow and bring me back here… heh.
…now, I suppose I’d better go and actually buy that concert ticket!
