..Its not so much of an entry as a request. Pls feel free to ritually abuse me for this, but I’m doing an essay on internet culture as part of post modern society, and I was wondering if you IT legends could help me out with some decent links for research, if you’ve got a spare minuite.. I mean, i’ve done the whole google thing, but its more your field than mine. So, any idears? Only if you’re not too busy..

Some themes to look into, off the heid:
- the egalitarian internet: anybody is free to read or to publish whatever they want. The evolution from the very first personal web pages (they were shit) to the modern weblog, a genuine cultural phenomenon.
- an informed public: everyone has access to genuinely up-to-the-minute (news sites), on-demand information on any subject. Second opinions are always available if you don’t trust your local authority.
- influence of technology: how the internet only really became useful to people as the tech progressed – the advent of effective search (Google), secure shopping (SSL), usable browsers (IE, Netscape), etc.
- congregation: people with obscure, niche interests that were previously isolated, come together and form communities. This has tremendous consequences, both positive (support groups, hobbies, etc.) and negative (paedos, terrorists).

Why Mr. Bell, I think you misunderstood me. If you look at my original request, I was asking you to point me in the general direction of some websites based on internet culture. I wasn’t looking for an essay plan. I already have one of those. I asked you because the internet is your field, and you’re obviously fucking good at what you do. Equally, Graphics are my field, and i’m fucking good at what I do. Hence, I wouldnt ask you to do my homework. So up yer bum ; P
