Dear Friends,
I have just read and signed the online petition:
“CND and STOP THE WAR COALITION petition – DON’T ATTACK IRAQ!”
hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at:
http://www.PetitionOnline.com/cndstwc/
I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself.
Best wishes,
Aaron Bell
A slightly cheesy email suggestion from PetitionOnline there.
Read today that France and Germany are declaring a unified and “vehement” anti-war stance on Iraq, which is great news. Though had to laugh at the Mail’s frothing DIPLOMATIC BOMBSHELL headline, at comedy odds with the measured reportage everywhere else.
After normally being satisfied that our UK government’s behaviour and foreign policy was amongst the more well-considered of the world, the current nonsense being spouted is incredibly disappointing. It makes me intensely angry.
I definitely feel strongly enough to hit the protest gathering on the 15th Feb. My only reservation is the countless, repeated conversations I’d be forced to endure with over-zealous and under-informed do-gooders.
Surely worth the sacrifice though : )

Shall sign that in a moment.
What I particularly liked was Colin Powell’s admission today that the US will not export any oil from Iraq once any invasion is over.
Firstly, they’re obviously pretty confident they’re going to win if they invade ; )
Secondly, he said that it would be left in Iraq for the Iraqi people… (and for the replacement government the US undoubtedly already have waiting in the wings)

> Well you know I do so hate to play devils advocate and all, but I dont think for a second that our government has now or has ever had a well considered approach to foreign policy, and maybe we just thought they did because of years and years of propaganda and spin. I think its just becoming more obvious now. To be honest, I’ve been so wrapped up in my own life to take much else of the world in of the last few months, but one thing is quite obvious. If the US’s foreign policy was acceptable then the world would be politicaly and otherwise much less volitile, and the likes of 9/11 probably wouldn’t have happened. Sweeping statement, I know, but I just think that propaganda has a lot to do with opinion poles, which has a lot to do with redneck motherfukers getting into power. Which has without doubt, everyting to do with our country going to war. (against what? whom?) To an extent I think we only have ourselves to blame. Whothefuck knows.. not me.

..and well up for doing the march thing too, actually. When ordinary people (ie, not anarchist fanny heads) get out on the streets to demonstrate about stuff like this is when the government start to take notice. Apathy will get us all killed one day.
